Inside Matchday | Brentford 0-1 City

City extended our unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions thanks to Erling Haaland’s strike at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Norwegian’s pace and power were too much for the Brentford defence as he latched onto Josko Gvardiol’s ball in behind, racing into the penalty area and firing past Caoimhin Kelleher inside ten minutes.

City continued to press forward for a second before the break with Phil Foden going close before Kelleher tipped a powerful Tijjani Reijnders effort over the bar.

But the Blues were thankful to Gianluigi Donnarumma at the other end after the break, as the Italian made a fine one on one save to deny Igor Thiago.

Regardless, Pep Guardiola’s men held on to move up to fifth in the Premier League.
