Chiefs Star Deletes Social Media Following Fan Outrage

Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones faced some fan backlash following an upsetting loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on “Monday Night Football,” leading to the All-Pro defensive tackle deleting his X account overnight.

Following the 31-28 loss that was clinched by Trevor Lawrence scrambling for a one-yard touchdown run with 23 seconds left in regulation, Jones’ effort was called into question on the backbreaking play.

Lawrence fell to the ground after his guard stepped on his foot, but recovered and ran the ball outside to the left. Jones was seen standing at the line of scrimmage before walking in pursuit of Lawrence.

While some fans defended Jones, arguing that the defense was told to let the Jaguars score to give Patrick Mahomes and the offense more time to respond, banking on less than 30 seconds to tie the game proved futile to the Chiefs, who fell to 2-3 on the season.

And Jones took the brunt of the backlash.

“Film study is not going to be fun,” one fan replied.

“Not a single [expletive] given,” a second fan commented.

“Chris jones I love you, but your effort on this play with the game on the line genuinely makes me want to punch a hole in my wall. This is [expletive] pathetic,” a third fan posted.

“Chris Jones with the best view in the house,” a fourth fan wrote.

The fan outrage led Jones, who signed a five-year, $158.75 million contract in March 2024, to delete his X account.

Despite the overwhelming frustration on the social media platform, some fans came to Jones’ defense.

People need to give him a break,” one commenter said. “The QB falling over himself and inch worming on the ground is a very surprising thing to happen. Its not like they train for that. Of course he was stunned.”

Jones and the Chiefs have a chance for redemption and to get back to .500 on the season on Sunday night, when they face the Detroit Lions on primetime.
