Lions at Chiefs: Betting Trend for Week 6

The last time Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs appeared on Sunday Night Football – Sept. 21 against the Giants – they came away with a 22-9 win, outscoring the hosts 12-3 in the second half.

Not only did Kansas City win the game, but they also covered the six-point spread. That snapped a three-game losing streak against the spread against NFC teams.

Kansas City plays another NFC team this Sunday night, when the Lions come to town. As of Tuesday's [NFL odds](https://www.betmgm.com/en/sports/football-11/betting/usa-9/nfl-35) at BetMGM, the Chiefs are a two-point favorite coming off a loss to Jacksonville on Monday Night Football:

**Spread**: Chiefs -2 (-110), Lions +2 (+110)

**Total**: Over 51.5 (-110), Under 51.5 (-110)

**Moneyline**: Chiefs -130, Lions +105

Overall, Mahomes is 26-6 against the NFC for his career, but against the spread he's only 16-15-1.

Given the short spread, it should not be a factor for this week.

When facing NFC teams, Mahomes is completing 65% of his passes for 9,037 yards, 71 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. The 65% completion percentage is down slightly from his 67% completion percentage against AFC teams. He's averaging 7.34 yards per attempt, which is also down slightly from 7.87 yards per attempt against AFC teams.

Specific to the Lions, Mahomes is 1-1 against them. Kansas City beat Detroit in 2019, but fell 21-20 the last time the two teams met in 2023 to open the NFL season.

Mahomes threw for 226 yards and a touchdown to go along with an interception in that game.
