The Green Bay Packers will get one of their best players back soon.
However, that doesn’t mean he’s going to be up to full speed right out of the gate.
When asked about his impending return, Christian Watson admitted that it might be a while before he’s back to being his former self:
“I’ve got to knock a little bit of rust off, obviously. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to go out there and play football. From confidence and running and everything, it felt really good. Just excited to continue to build off that,” Watson said.
Christian Watson says he’s been running and cutting for two months. He has complete confidence in his knee. Wants to play as soon as possible, but knows he needs to get back into football shape.

Watson also said that his main priority will be to be fully healthy.
That makes perfect sense, given how much he’s struggled to stay on the field for most of the season.
Then again, he might also be taking things cautiously or not trying to get ahead of himself, as he seemed to be way ahead of schedule for most of his long and winding recovery process.
Before the start of the season, he even admitted that he could’ve probably played through that injury if the Packers were in the playoffs.
Fortunately for him, that just wasn’t the case, and there was no need to rush anything.
Barring a setback, it seems like he could be back on the field as early as Sunday when the Packers host the Cincinnati Bengals.
Romeo Doubs has been Jordan Love’s primary weapon so far, but with Watson also in the picture, that’s likely to change.
It might not happen right out of the gate as Matt LaFleur tries to ease him back.
But as soon as he’s fully ready to go, the Packers will be wise to feed him early and often in the passing game.
