The Green Bay Packers needed the bye week.
While not many coaches like to have the bye week so early in the season, it may have been a blessing in disguise for Matt LaFleur’s team.
Not only did it allow them to get back to full strength and recover several key pieces, but it also gave them a big chance to get back to the drawing board and fix what needs to be fixed.
Hopefully, that will include their special teams blunders.
As pointed out by Packers analyst Wendell Ferreira on X, the Cincinnati Bengals have a big edge in that department:
“The Packers are tied for 30th in PFF special teams grade. The Bengals are 19th. It’s the one place where Cincinnati has an edge,” Ferreira posted on X.

Ever since Rich Bisaccia took the reins of that unit, the Packers have had either the worst or one of the worst special teams in the entire league.
Matt LaFleur clearly trusts him and has his back, as he made him one of his associate head coaches.
Even so, he needs to do much better.
In fact, the Packers could’ve been sitting on an undefeated 4-0 record by now if it weren’t for their subpar special teams.
They missed a field goal that left the door wide open for the Cleveland Browns to pull off an epic upset in Week 3.
Then, they allowed a blocked extra point, which was returned for two points in a game against the Dallas Cowboys that ended in a tie.
As things stand now, the Packers are favored by double digits, and they simply can’t afford another dud because of subpar special teams execution.
