Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones is one of the wealthiest owners in the NFL.
But just because he can afford to pay the massive $250,000 fine handed to him by the NFL, that doesn't mean that he wants to do so without a fight.
Jones came under fire after a video emerged on social media showing him seemingly flipping the middle finger to a New York Jets fan during Sunday's Week 5 win at MetLife Stadium.
During a radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, Jones explained that his obscene gesture was just a simple mix up.
"That was unfortunate," Jones said. "There was a swarm of Cowboys fans out front. It was right after we made our last touchdown. I put up the wrong show of hand. The intention was thumbs up."

NFL fans on social media weren't buying Jones' excuse, and it's likely the NFL isn't either. Given the fact that Jones spends more time with a camera pointed in his face than not, it's unlikely he "used the wrong hand gesture."
Jones' punishment seems fitting for the crime - former Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams was fined the same amount for gesturing with both middle fingers at Bills fans, and Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was hit with a $300,000 fine for tossing a drink at a fan back in 2024 - but he does plan to fight it, according to Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams.

"The NFL fined Cowboys owner Jerry Jones $250,000 for giving fans the middle finger during the team's Week 5 road win over the Jets," Williams reported. "Jones has until Friday to file an appeal, and it's expected he will, according to multiple reports."
Jones' Cowboys knocked off the Jets 37-22 on Sunday to improve to 2-2-1.
Dallas returns to action Sunday against the Panthers at Bank of America Stadium at 1 p.m. ET on Fox.
