Ridley breaks out with best game of season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Through the first four games of the NFL season, Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley had just 141 receiving yards.

The team’s top weapon in the passing game dealt with drops and inconsistency. The Titans are hoping that changed with his performance in Arizona. Ridley caught five passes for 131 yards and was instrumental in the team’s come-from-behind win.

Titans coach Brian Callahan believes that this type of performance could jumpstart what should be Cam Ward’s favorite target.

“I got a lot of confidence in Calvin, and he’s shown his ability to change the game for us,” said Callahan. “He just needed to capitalize on the opportunities and I think he was in the right frame of mind to go do it and really played well for us down the down the stretch of the game and we needed every bit of that to be able to win. And we’re going to need that moving forward too. So got to keep putting them in the right spots and giving them opportunities. We keep protecting well and giving Cam (Ward) a good pocket, we’ll be able to find him down the field.”

Ridley’s 131 yards were the fifth-most in the NFL in Week 5, behind Emeka Egbuka, Stefon Diggs, Kendrick Bourne and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

The Titans next face the Raiders in Las Vegas on October 12th at 3:05 p.m.
