Manchester United star Marcus Rashford's transfer value continues to plummet, despite the forward enjoying a fruitful spell at Barcelona since his high-profile summer move.
Rashford informed United, following his loan spell at Aston Villa, that he wished to leave the club in the summer transfer window. This request was granted when an agreement was reached with the England player's preferred club - Catalan giants Barcelona.
Barca agreed to pay Rashford's wages in full to bring him to Catalonia on a loan deal. Hansi Flick's side also hold an option to sign the England international permanently next summer for a fee in the region of £26.2million.
Since arriving in La Liga, Rashford has settled in well, bagging three goals and five assists in ten appearances - this included a brace against Newcastle in the Champions League. However, despite his positive start to the campaign, his transfer value continues to slump.
According to Transfermarkt, as of last week, Rashford is valued at just £34.72million. The forward has not dropped below £43.4million since he was a teenager in 2017.
At that time, he was worth little more than £26million, but his value would sky-rocket in a year. Rashford's transfer value peaked in 2021 when he was worth a whopping £73.77million.
While his value is still more than what United stand to make should he join Barca permanently at the end of this season, the Reds have little wiggle room to earn a more substantial fee. Following the loan spell in La Liga, Rashford will have two years remaining on his contract and having already expressed his desire to move on, United hold very little power to negotiate a greater fee.
Barcelona have already confirmed that they are under no obligation to sign Rashford, should they not wish to. However, their sporting director Deco insisted that the initial signs are good for the Wythenshawe-born player.
"There's no penalty clause in the loan agreement if we don't sign him," he told Mundo Deportivo. "We do have an option to make it permanent if we want to.
"It's too early to talk about decisions for next season. What matters is that we're happy with him."
