Chelsea’s interest in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo does not appear to have gone away.
In January, it was claimed that Chelsea were in pole position to sign Mainoo, with his future in doubt at the time.
Fast forward to now, and there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the 20-year-old’s future.
Chelsea are not light in the middle of the park. Enzo Maresca currently has Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo all in his squad. However, it looks like the Blues could find the opportunity to sign Mainoo too difficult to turn down.

Chelsea more likely to make Kobbie Mainoo approach next summer than in January
During the summer, Chelsea fans asked the club to sign Mainoo, and they may end up getting their wish.
According to TEAMtalk, despite their wealth of midfield options, the Blues are still interested in the England international.
However, the same outlet claims that an approach next summer is more likely than one during the January transfer window.
If Mainoo does move to Stamford Bridge at some point, he faces a tough task getting into Maresca’s starting XI.

In Caicedo and Fernandez, Chelsea have two of the best midfielders in the Premier League. In fact, for some, the former is the best.
Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville raved about Caicedo following his performance in Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Liverpool last Saturday, hailing him as the top midfielder in English football.

Ruben Amorim could drive Kobbie Mainoo out of Old Trafford
If Ruben Amorim remains at United, it would not be surprising to see Mainoo join Chelsea or another club.
The Portuguese continues to overlook the United academy graduate, failing to hand him a single start in the Premier League this season.
United’s form has picked up, with the Red Devils actually only one point below Chelsea in the Premier League table. That is good news for Amorim and should prolong his stay at Old Trafford, which could have ramifications for Mainoo.
