If Man Utd want to catch the teams at the top of the Premier League, they need to sign players like Harry Kane with the England skipper giving an update on his future.

Harry Kane breaks silence on Premier League return amid Man Utd links

Speaking on international duty, Kane has given an update on his plans and his thoughts on one day returning to the league where he made his name, via The Guardian.

“In terms of staying longer I could definitely see that,” Kane said. “I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation. Obviously it depends on how the next year or so goes, what we achieve together. We are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else.

“In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back. Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.

“I am fully all in with Bayern. If there was a conversation about extending then we will see, but I have still got this season and another season. It is not like I am in my last year, it is not like there is any panic. I am calm, I love the manager at Bayern and as long we are improving and I am improving then I am happy to see what we can achieve.”

Why Kane would have been a United player in the past

Kane recently turned 32 in the summer but is showing no signs of slowing down, if anything, he is getting better, and better. For context, United just paid £74m for Benjamin Sesko from the same league and he scored 13 Bundesliga goals last season.

Kane already has 11, in six games. Should Kane hint that he would entertain a return to England, there would be a lengthy queue for his signature. There was a time when Old Trafford was the obvious destination for England’s top talent and that should be the target for INEOS once again.

The national team’s starting XI used to be full of players who had come up through the ranks at Carrington or who United had bought to subsidise their homegrown quota. Players like Andy Cole joined the class of ‘92 whilst Michael Carrick, Alan Smith and Wayne Rooney arrived at a time when academy players frequently featured in Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting XI. Ferguson would have signed Kane, of that there is almost no doubt.
