Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye insists he wants to win a trophy with the Toffees.
The Senegalese international has stated ‘it’s an aim’ for the Blues, and reflects upon the current trophy drought.
The club is in the midst of its longest trophiless period, which now stretches back over 30 years.
Indeed, ahead of last month’s League Cup tie at Wolves, James Tarkowski outlined his desire to see success return to the club.
However, with seven changes to the starting XI, Everton fell to a 2-0 defeat at Molyneux.
It felt like another big opportunity missed for the club, with the wait likely to stretch for another year.
However, speaking ahead of last weekend’s game against Crystal Palace, Ndiaye insists attention remains focused on delivering success.
He said: “I want to achieve things with Everton, I want to win trophies, which the club hasn’t seen for too long and things like that.
“It’s an aim for us to work towards. You know, winning a trophy would be huge for this club and for the supporters, but also for me. It’s an ambition of mine, too.
“I’m not playing football for the sake of it or just to earn money, you know? Whenever I play, I want to be successful and do something for the club, leave my mark, win trophies. I want to be successful for myself and my family, as well as the club.
“It’s always an ambition and it’s in my head. I think knowing Everton hasn’t won a trophy for a long time, it’s now become an even bigger thing like: ‘Okay, we need to end this run.’ It’s something I’d love to do here.”
NDIAYE HAS THE QUALITY TO DELIVER FOR EVERTON
The 25-year-old has quickly established himself as one of the best performers at the club since his arrival.
His flair and finesse instantly made him a fan favourite, while he continues to deliver with his end product.
Equalising from the penalty spot, Ndiaye got Everton back in the game against Palace at the weekend.
The former Marseille man then put in a tantalising cross, leading to Jack Grealish’s dramatic winner.
Indeed, he was the club’s top goal scorer last season, and already has three this campaign.
Delivering a trophy could prove to be more difficult however, with only the FA Cup realistically achievable this season.
However, as I’ve said before, it should absolutely be our ambition to reestablish ourselves as a club that wins trophies.
The more players we have with that mentality, the better.
