Zyon McCollum
**UPDATED:** Joe is neither a doctor nor a physical therapist, but Joe has no issue proclaiming the Bucs are down another top cornerback.
Unless cornerback Zyon McCollum was in an early Halloween costume as Jermaine Phillips, McCollum has a messed up thumb. He was wearing a cast/sling setup at Bucs practice today. The screenshot above is from the X feed of local ABC affiliate reporter Kyle Burger.
Todd Bowles said McCollum had a “procedure” on the thumb this week and possibly could play Sunday, but Bowles sure sounded downtrodden and doubtful. Bowles added the injury occurred prior to Sunday’s game in Seattle.
Keep in mind fellow starter Jamel Dean missed Sunday’s game with a hip issue and No. 3 cornerback Benjamin Morrison did, too (hamstring).
Bowles said Dean seems to be closer to playing than Morrison.
Wacky times.
Joe suspects veteran Bryce Hall might be in line for a call-up from the Bucs practice squad to face the 49ers on Sunday.
