Manchester City Next Gen: September Review

Izzy Christiansen looks back at four successive wins for our Women's Under-21s.

Former City midfielder Christiansen is Head Coach of our Next Gen squad, newly formed ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, and the team have made excellent progress so far.

At time of writing, we sit top of the Women’s Professional Girls Academy (PGA) U21 League table, winning all four of our assignments so far.

We began with a phenomenal 8-3 win away to Manchester United, before 9-1 and 4-1 triumphs over Birmingham.

A dramatic 4-3 victory over Leicester then maintained our perfect start to the campaign.

Looking ahead, City have four more matches in the first phase of the PGA U21 League, with the competition switching to a national format in the new year.

We must finish in the top four of the northern section to qualify for Group 1 of the PGA U21 League, facing our southern counterparts for a shot at the national title.
