Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to dominate headlines, not just because of the swirling trade rumors about his future with the Milwaukee Bucks, but also due to reports claiming that his family has moved out of Milwaukee and no longer lives with him.
After spending part of the offseason back home in Greece with his family, a recent report from Greek outlet Tovima.com stated that Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wife, Mariah, along with their four children, have officially relocated to Athens on a permanent basis.

The Greek outlet reported that Giannis Antetokounmpo’s wife and children had already settled into a “brand new futuristic-looking and custom-build apartment complex in Athens’ “diplomatic row” neighborhood, Paleo Psychiko,” and were not expected to return to Milwaukee until the Christmas and New Year holidays. However, the Bucks star quickly responded, taking to Instagram with a long post to address and dismiss the rumors.
“Stop lying and endangering my family. The publicity is the result of my own choices, not my children’s. Every child has the right to grow up without the pressure of publicity. Every child needs space to develop, to explore themselves and the world, without feeling that he is being monitored or judged. As a parent, I have a responsibility to protect their privacy so that they grow up with confidence, dignity and a sense of security. Don’t put my kids back on any platform… it’s enough.” Antetokounmpo wrote in Greek in his Instagram story.

It’s still unclear if Giannis’ family has in fact settled in Greece, but their living arrangements are ultimately a private matter. That’s what sparked Antetokounmpo’s anger over the report, which focused on his family and exposed personal information about their residence.
Giannis will always put his family first, as any father should, so his recent social media response shouldn’t catch anyone off guard. With Antetokounmpo entering his 13th season in the league and with the Bucks, speculation is growing about how much longer he plans to call Milwaukee home.

It’s no secret around the league that Giannis has been seriously weighing his future with the franchise, particularly with his hunger to capture another championship. Since leading the Bucks to the 2021 NBA title, Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee have fallen short, suffering first-round playoff exits in three consecutive seasons.
Recent reports from Shams Charania have tied Antetokounmpo to the New York Knicks as his preferred destination, but the chase for one of the NBA’s most powerful players could quickly escalate if the Bucks continue to falter. For now, the fate of Giannis and Milwaukee hangs in the balance.
