Andreas Pereira has started the next stage in his career, leaving the Premier League for Brazil as he joined Palmeiras from Fulham for £8.7 million.

The 29-year-old was a product of the Manchester United academy, having joined the Red Devils in 2012 from PSV Eindhoven’s youth set-up.

Over the years, Pereira rose through the academy ranks, joining the senior team in 2015, however didn’t become a regular until the 2018/19 and 2019/20 season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In the meantime the Brazil international had loan spells with Granada and Valencia before establishing himself in United’s senior squad.

The 29-year-old made 75 appearances for United, grabbing four goals and five assists over his time at Old Trafford, making some cameo appearances in the club’s 2016 FA Cup winning campaign.

However, the ex-Red Devils has now hit out at United’s training facilities, claiming Palmeiras’ are vastly superior.

Talking to ESPN Brazil, the attacking midfielder commented: “Compared to what’s out there, it’s the elite of football.”

He continued: “Few clubs have the structure Palmeiras has. I’ve worked for several big clubs in Europe, and I can say that Palmeiras has the best structure I’ve ever worked in. Better than Manchester United when I was there.”

He’s not the first to comment on the poor training facilities at Carrington, with Cristiano Ronaldo previously claiming that the training ground hadn’t changed much in the 12 years between his two stints at the club.

Since then however, INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made a £50 million investment into transforming the Carrington facility, with new plans emerging that work will soon take place on developing the facilities for the academy also.

As such, it’s expected that the amenities, facilities and set-up of Carrington is vastly different now to what Pereira or Ronaldo experienced, bringing United back up to date.
