Man Utd need to add more quality to a squad that is still short of depth and they have learned how much it will take to sign Antoine Semenyo and who is competing for his signature.
Manchester United’s focus now is on signing players who can take the club to the next level.
The rot that had set into the club has been repaired to an extent after being stripped back to the bare bones and those that demanded to leave have been moved on. If Ruben Amorim is to be the man in charge, he now needs the right players to help him progress.
Man Utd learn Antoine Semenyo transfer fee and signature competition
There are still honest players who will do nothing but work hard and give their all for United, however, the focus should now be on quality and proven talent. One player who the Red Devils are keen on is Antoine Semenyo with the 25-year old now attracting attention from the biggest clubs on the continent. The Old Trafford outfit made attempts to sign the Bournemouth winger in the summer only for him to sign a new deal.
With six goals and three assists in seven Premier League appearances, Semenyo has, arguably, forced himself into player of the year reckoning if his form continues. It also makes him one of the hottest properties in Europe with Talksport’s Alex Crooks reporting on his transfer blog about the latest clubs who are interested: “Bournemouth are braced for serious interest from England’s biggest clubs in Antoine Semenyo if he can continue his stunning form. While Bournemouth’s defence was ransacked last season by the likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool, keeping Semenyo was arguably the Cherries’ best bit of business.
“As previously revealed in this Notebook, the Ghana international held talks with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United before opting to sign a new deal in Dorset. It is believed both those clubs continue to monitor Semenyo’s incredible rise from the EFL to Premier League sensation.
“Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is also a big admirer of Semenyo having signed him from Bristol City for a bargain £10.5million. Bournemouth believe Semenyo, 25, is now worth north of £75m having already scored six league goals, second only behind Erling Haaland and claimed three assists this season.”
What has Iraola said about Semenyo?
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is fully aware of how important Semenyo is to his side’s hopes of pushing into the European places and why they currently sit fourth and just two points off the top of the table.
Speaking after Semenyo’s recent man of the match display against Fulham, the Cherries manager was full of praise for his winger: “He is in a very good spot, and he has been growing a lot every season.
“I think he is a player with confidence, and we need to try to keep him there. There are still areas that I think he can improve in, but now he is a player that is making the difference.”
There is no doubt that the 29-times capped Ghana international is a good player, however, how good a fit he is for United is a question that has to be asked. Amorim doesn’t play with traditional wingers and playing on the right of a midfield three isn’t the same as playing on the right of a front three. United already have enough square pegs in round holes, they don’t need another, especially not for £75m.
