Linebacker Micah McFadden is currently on the injured list with the New York Giants after suffering a foot injury in week one of the season. McFadden is expected to miss a significant portion of the season, but there is hope he could return at some point.
On the season McFadden has made one start for the Giants and he has recorded three tackles.
Coming into the 2025 season McFadden has three years of NFL experience and he has played in 47 career games with 35 starts. For his career McFadden has recorded 262 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hits, six passes defended, five fumble recoveries, five sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception. McFadden was selected in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Giants.
With the Hoosiers the Tampa native played in 45 career games with 31 starts. He finished his career with 216 tackles, 37 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, four interceptions, four pass break-ups, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. As a senior in 2021 he was named First-Team All-Big Ten by Phil Steele and Second-Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and media. He was also named as a Midseason All-American by The Athletic, and he was honored as Indiana’s Anthony Thompson Most Valuable Player. McFadden was named to the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List, the Butkus Award Watch List, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List, and the Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List. In 2020 McFadden was named a Second-Team All-American by Phil Steele, a Third-Team All-American by the Associated Press, and First-Team All-Big Ten by the coaches and media. He also earned Indiana’s Anthony Thompson Most Valuable Player award. As a sophomore in 2019 McFadden earned Honorable-Mention All-Big Ten honors from the coaches, and he was named IU’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.
Linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball was placed on injured reserve following week three of the season due to a hamstring injury. The earliest he could return is for week eight of the season.
On the season McCrary-Ball has played in three games for the Jets and he has recorded 17 tackles and one forced fumble.
Coming into the 2025 season McCrary-Ball has two years of NFL experience after beginning his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers in 2022. He joined the Jets' organization in August of 2023. In 14 career games with the Jets he has recorded seven total tackles.
McCrary-Ball played in 53 games at Indiana with 44 starts. For his career he recorded 241 tackles, 17 pass break-ups, 16.5 tackles for loss, 10 QB hurries, 5.5 sacks, four interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He earned Honorable-Mention All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media in 2018. As a true freshman in 2016 the Georgia native was named as a 247Sports True Freshman All-American. He was also earned Honorable-Mention All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media, and he was named All-Freshman by ESPN.com and BTN.com. He was named IU’s Defensive Newcomer of the Year for 2016.
QB Kurtis Rourke began the season on the Active/Non-Football Injury list with the San Francisco 49ers, which means he can be activated at anytime once he is cleared for full activity. Rourke is still recovering from the ACL injury he played with at Indiana in 2024.
Rourke was drafted by San Francisco in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
At Indiana in 2024 Rourke threw for 3,042 yards with 29 touchdowns and five interceptions with a 69 percent completion rate. He also had two rushing touchdowns for the Hoosiers. After the season he earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors from the conference coaches and media, and he was named Second Team All-Big Ten by the Associated Press. He was also named a finalist for the Manning Award, a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, the Walter Camp Award, and for the Davey O’Brien Award. He also was selected to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Top Five. In 2023 Rourke was named Second Team All-MAC after passing for 2,207 yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 starts. Rourke was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 after throwing for 3,256 yards and 25 touchdowns with only four interceptions. In six seasons of college football Rourke completed 67 percent of his passes for 10,692 yards with 79 touchdown passes and 21 interceptions. He also rushed for 797 yards and 13 touchdowns, and he had 62 yards receiving.
