Manchester United brought in four first-team players in the summer transfer window, but in truth they were linked with many more. The Red Devils had a host of names on their shortlist but got only four deals over the line.
Three of the four players that Ruben Amorim added to the squad were attackers, with Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo all walking through the door at Old Trafford. Of course, most of the exits from the club also happened to belong to the same position.
One attacker that Manchester United were interested in during the summer but ultimately did not move for was Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo. The talented left-winger has only grown by leaps and bounds since that point.
The flavour of the season
Semenyo has been one of the Premier League’s in-form players so far this season. Nine G/A in seven games showcase just how good he has been, and, as per the Daily Briefing via Caught Offside, Man Utd are set to reignite their interest in him.
Although the Red Devils are aware that Semenyo is going to cost far more than he would have in the summer, they see the player as well worth it and do not mind tabling an increased bid to bring him to Old Trafford.
Liverpool were another Premier League club interested in signing Semenyo, but, having had a summer full of spending, especially in the forward areas, the Reds are unlikely to make a bid to rival Man Utd for the Cherries talisman.
Interest a-plenty

The situation of the other top clubs in the league, like Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Man City, is not clear as yet, but should Semenyo continue his current form and become available for a move, there is no doubt that more clubs will enter the race.
As a profile, Semenyo would fit beautifully into Ruben Amorim’s tactical set-up. He could play either as a left-winger or a left wing-back, and his attacking ability and flair could add a new dimension to the Man Utd attack.
That said, Bournemouth are unlikely to be willing to part with Semenyo until next summer, and the interest in the player could spark a bidding war. Only time will tell what the future holds for the Cherries star.
