La Liga announced plans for an unprecedented regular-season match between Villarreal CF and FC Barcelona on Dec. 20 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Pending final approval, the groundbreaking event would represent the first time a major European league stages an official match with points at stake outside its home country.
