Earlier this week, it was reported that the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks discussed a potentially monster trade during the summer.
The two teams talked about potentially moving Giannis Antetokounmpo from Milwaukee to New York, a trade that would have completely shaken the entire league.
It didn’t happen, of course, but now Knicks head coach Mike Brown is talking about it.
“I don’t get into that stuff. We’re in a great spot right now. Our guys have been playing their tails off. This is a good answer from Brown, who was surely aware of the trade talks at the time.
But he isn’t going to explore potential deals and hypotheticals, and instead wants to focus on doing the most that he can with his current team.
Like many fans, Brown has a strong belief in the Knicks right now.
The front office has been working hard over the years to put together a great batch of players who like performing together.
It has taken a long time, but the Knicks are now viewed as legitimate contenders in the Eastern Conference.
If discussions about trading for Antetokounmpo fire up again later in the year, New York’s roster will have to change.
The front office would have to be careful because they’d do anything to get Antetokounmpo, but they also don’t want to ruin the great chemistry they have been building.
For now, Brown and the Knicks have nothing to say about a potential Antetokounmpo trade, but that could change in several months.
