The Baltimore Ravens are facing a disastrous start to the 2025 season.
At 1-4, their record reflects more than just losses as the team appears to be unraveling in real time.
A franchise historically known for defensive toughness and takeaways has been repeatedly exposed, with recent metrics highlighting just how severe the issues have become.
According to Sleeper NFL data, the Ravens’ defense ranks as the worst in the league by a significant margin.
They’ve surrendered 732 rushing yards, ranking 30th, while allowing eight rushing touchdowns.
The passing defense has been equally catastrophic, giving up a league-high 13 touchdowns and 1,351 yards through the air.

Baltimore now sits dead last in scoring defense, allowing more points per game than any team by a four-point margin.
The team has lost three straight games, including an embarrassing blowout against Houston where they gave up 37 points to a Texans offense that entered averaging just 16 per week.
Baltimore’s struggles extend across multiple areas rather than one isolated problem.
On third downs, their defense allows a 44.6% conversion rate, ranking 27th in the NFL and frequently failing to get off the field.
The lack of impact plays compounds the issue, with Baltimore near the bottom in both sacks and takeaways while enabling long drives and high scoring outputs.
Their Week 5 collapse against Houston highlighted the severity as the Texans gained 417 yards and controlled both yardage and time of possession.
Historically, the Ravens are on pace to allow 602 points, which would surpass the all-time record set by the 2024 Carolina Panthers at 534.
Even considering the 17-game schedule, the decline is stark compared to the 1981 Colts, who allowed 533 over 16 games.
Baltimore is surrendering more points per game despite modern rules designed to protect defenses.
