The Bill Belichick experiment for the North Carolina Tar Heels seems to be going as poorly as the Urban Meyer experiment went for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Tar Heels are 2-3 on the season, and all three losses have come in blowout fashion.
To complicate matters further, Belichick has been embroiled in what has felt like an endless wave of off-the-field controversies, mostly stemming from his controversial relationship with the much younger Jordon Hudson.
On Wednesday afternoon, it was reported that Belichick was talking with the university about finding a way out of his current commitment to the school and that members of his staff were contacting other programs about potential jobs.
In the wake of these reports, [Belichick and North Carolina have released their official statements on the matter.](https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1976100174905659449)
“I’m fully committed to UNC football and the program we’re building here,” read Belichick’s statement.
“Coach Belichick has the full support of the Department of Athletics and University,” Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham read.
Fans reacted to the statements on social media.
“This is like a couple whose marriage is falling apart and they post a loving pic together,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“You can’t judge a college coach until there’s not a single player on the team that he didn’t recruit,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Belichick saga ends in North Carolina.
