SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Augustana Hockey is back and ready to drop the puck on its third season. Coming off a 2-2 exhibition tie against St. Cloud State, the Vikings start the regular season off with a tough matchup in Duluth, Minnesota.
Augustana Head Coach Garrett Raboin said he’s confident with how his team has played so far this year in practice and that one game at St. Cloud State. He said even though they’re still figuring out personnel on lines, everyone is playing with the high energy and intensity they expect to see.
They now head to Duluth to play a Bulldog squad that’s seen plenty of success over the years. Raboin said he expects to see that same foundation when they play up there this weekend, an intense opponent leaving no room to breathe on the ice.
“There are some things that have really served them well in the past, that you’re seeing them already be organized on. There wasn’t a lot of ice out there; they’re on top of you all night, and I think this is going to be a group for them that’s committed to the long game,” Raboin said.
The Vikings and Bulldogs are slated to play at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. This will be the first time the two programs have met in Men’s Hockey, bringing an old NSIC rivalry to a new battleground.
