Everton head into the international break off the back of a big three points against Crystal Palace.

David Moyes’ side managed to come back from a goal down to end Crystal Palace’s 19-game unbeaten streak.

Everton had to suffer for a lot of the game, and Moyes will be well aware of where his side needs to improve if they’re to realise their aspirations of qualifying for Europe.

With that said, during this two-week break, the Scotsman has one clear objective to achieve on the Finch Farm training pitch.

David Moyes must work with Thierno Barry on one thing

Thierno Barry has endured a tough start to his Everton career following a £30m switch from Villarreal in the summer transfer window.

Barry is yet to get off the mark and really struggled in his second Premier League start against Palace before the break.

The 22-year-old was dragged off at half-time with the more experienced centre-forward Beto replacing him.

In the 45 minutes Barry played, he lost the ball a whopping 10 times, so Moyes must work on improving his hold-up play during this two-week break.

The towering Frenchman has the frame to develop into a really effective link-up striker, he just needs time on the training pitch at Finch Farm to learn that side of the game.

David Moyes admits it will take time for Thierno Barry to adapt

Speaking last month, Moyes admitted Barry and fellow summer signing Adam Aznou will take time to adapt to the Premier League and a new country.

“They’ve come into a new culture, it is completely different – it is a new league,” the Scotsman explained.

“So they’re going to take time. A lot of the Premier League players don’t settle in right away, the boys who come from overseas.

“I’ve got to say the two boys have settled in well, but are they completely ready to start all the games? No, they are not.”

Moyes has actually been looking at signing another striker in January to help Barry and Beto, with Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee linked.
