KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Following a viral video showing Patrick Mahomes handing a young fan his headband after a game, only for it to be taken by a Giants fan, the Chiefs have sent the boy a box of gifts.
“These two weeks have been insane,” said Mindy Masters. “What the Kansas City Chiefs did for him was unbelievable.”
The incident happened at 10-year-old Joey Masters’ first Chiefs game. He got tickets to see the Chiefs play the Giants at MetLife Stadium last month for his birthday. After the team saw the viral video, they reached out to the Masters family.

“It was absolutely amazing,” said Mindy. “Just getting that text was overwhelming. This whole thing has been overwhelming. What an amazing organization. They didn’t have to do anything, and they really went out of their way and did that.”
When the box arrived, she filmed her son opening it to find several items, much to his surprise.
The Chiefs have sent several gifts to a young fan after a Patrick Mahomes headband was taken from him.
“A signed Patrick Mahomes jersey, a headband,” said Joey. “There was so much in that box. How did that much stuff fit in one box? I do not know.”
The Chiefs also gifted him a hat, water bottle stickers, and more. Joey says the signed jersey is now a prized possession he plans on getting framed.

“Wow,” said Joey when asked his reaction to seeing all the gifts. “I was overwhelmed. Thank you, Kansas City Chiefs.”
The Masters, who live in New York, say they’re hoping to go to a Chiefs game at Arrowhead next season. While Joey is unsure if he’ll take his signed jersey out of its frame to wear, he knows he’ll have several new items to choose from.
