Everton owner makes powerful friends in Europe – Positive week for the Friedkins

Football is all about relationships and it seems Everton’s owner, Dan Friedkin, is building some serious ones in Europe.

That’s if [the latest from Gazzetta dello Sport](https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Serie-A/Roma/09-10-2025/stadio-roma-gualtieri-siamo-all-ultima-tappa-sara-uno-dei-piu-belli-del-mondo_amp.shtml) is anything to go by. They detail how he’s been busy making friends with Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaïfi this week.

The newspaper explains how Friedkin has been in Rome throughout the week, attending the European Football Clubs General Assembly. Ironically, it’s shorted to the EFC.

Anyway, he’s been busy doing all sorts at the event, which he’s hosted through his other club, Roma. That’s included finalising plans for Roma’s new stadium project. Indeed, the Pietralata Stadium was the focal point of the meetings.

Various other owners, executives and club officials have been in attendance as well. That includes PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. He is also the current president of the EFC.

Gazzetta, say he took to the stage to make a speech of his own, during which he took time out to offer special thanks to the Everton owner. That included handing him a ‘commemorative jersey’ for the event.

_“I’d like to give a special thank you to Dan Friedkin,”_ he said.

_“He and his team have done an extraordinary job, and this is the best meeting in our history. Without you, it wouldn’t have been like this. You are one of the most elegant people I’ve ever met. And I have a small thought for you.”_

Whether this leads to anything, remains to be seen. But we’re sure Everton fans would find their owner cosying up to one of the most powerful men in European football, very interesting indeed.
