“Not So Unrealistic Now”–David Ornstein Claims Man City Could Still Receive£50M Transfer Windfall

**Everton may yet trigger their option to sign Man City winger Jack Grealish on a permanent basis for £50m, according to _The Athletic_ journalist David Ornstein.**

Many were sceptical about the chances of the Toffees paying the requisite fee at the end of the season, but after Grealish’s strong start to the season, Ornstein said you can’t rule anything out:

“I remember when I broke the news about there being a £50m option to buy, and everybody sort of laughed and said, ‘Well, that’s not going to be activated’.”

“Okay, it probably won’t, but it’s not so unrealistic now.

What are the chances of Grealish staying at Everton?

----------------------------------------------------

There are two important factors to take into account. Firstly, the 30-year-old will have to maintain the form and fitness he has shown in the opening couple of months of the campaign.

Grealish has scored 1 goal and provided 4 assists in 9 appearances for Everton during his loan spell so far.

Secondly, a lot could hinge on the position the Toffees are in financially. If they can stay within the constraints of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, then a deal could be struck.

Man City would be rubbing their hands

While some fans may disagree, receiving £50m for a player who has just turned 30 and is not part of the club’s first-team plans looks like a great piece of business.

The move could work out for both parties, with Grealish seemingly flourishing at his new club, while City can reinvest the money back into the squad.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been [**linked**](https://mancitynews.com/man-city-transfer-news-michael-olise-5/) with the likes of Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise over the past couple of weeks. The Frenchman is expected to cost in excess of £100m if he does become available next summer.
