When ESPN super insider Adam Schefter talks Bucs, Joe pays attention.
Four years ago, Schefter had Bucs assistant general manager Mike Greenberg as a guest on his popular podcast together with Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht. There, Schefter explained he and Greenberg are from the same hometown. It was clear that Schefter has a stronghold when it comes to Bucs intel, and that plays out on social media and TV every year.
So Joe had to hit rewind when Schefter talked about Tampa Bay’s injuries yesterday on his podcast.
Schefter was adamant. “They lost two starting offensive linemen to season-ending injuries.”
Well, Joe only counts one starting offensive lineman down with a season-ending injury. That’s right guard Cody Mauch, who trashed his knee.
Right tackle Luke Goedeke messed up his foot in Week 1 this season, returned after several days of rest and then went on injured reserve for the same injury with the Bucs publicly stating optimism about Goedeke’s 2025 return.
So is Goedeke out for the season? Is the second starting offensive lineman to whom Schefter referred?
Joe waited more than a full day to type this up — to see if Schefter would correct/edit his report. Joe has seen no word from Schefter on his X feed with 11.6 million followers. There’s been no edit to the podcast, either.
