The Hornets and Thunder are playing the classic preseason home and home with three days of rest in between. The Thunder [took the first meeting decisively](https://atthehive.com/2025/10/06/takeaways-from-someone-who-watched-a-little-bit-of-the-hornets-preseason-opener/) even though they didn’t play any of their notable players. They made all of their shots while the Hornets looked like a rusty team that was trying to find its footing after a long time off.

The purple and teal will get a second crack at it tonight. As far as I know, they’re going to trot out the same lineup as they did in the first meeting and hope it goes better. I assume the Thunder are going to start easing their stars back into action at some point as well, so there’s a decent chance we see some of them tonight.

As for what to expect, it’s still hard to say. I’d like to see Kon Knueppel put out another strong performance to prove that he’s really ready to play at this level. I thought Brandon Miller looked really comfortable with the ball in the first game, but the shots just didn’t go in. That’s expected coming off a wrist injury and long absence, but hopefully he starts to turn that around and get some confidence in the shot.

In other news, the Hornets waived DJ Rodman and replaced him with Eric Dixon, who led all of Division I with 23.3 points per game for Villanova. He’ll probably get some burn in the fourth quarter and will be an interesting watch.
