There is currently a lot of noise surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles, but beneath all the drama is a 4-1 team that knows how to win football games. Regardless of the narratives surrounding the team, Philly is loaded with talented players who do whatever it takes to win games. Eagles' general manager, Howie Roseman, does whatever it takes to keep those players on the roster.
One of those players is Jordan Davis, and the young defensive tackle is currently playing his way to an early extension. NFL insider Dan Graziano recently highlighted this in an ESPN piece, discussing players most likely to get an extension over the next two months. Graziano explained that Philadelphia, a team that is typically proactive with contracts, has several young defenders coming up for extensions, but Davis is the one he has his eyes on.
Jordan Davis could be extended by the Eagles during the season
As Graziano pointed out, Philadelphia picked up Davis' fifth-year option, so he’s under contract for this season and the next. However, Philly has a history of getting deals done early, and with so many young defenders set to be extension-eligible soon, the Eagles could just get Davis out of the way right now.
"I have my eye on defensive tackle Jordan Davis, who's playing well in his fourth season and is extension-eligible. The Eagles picked up his fifth-year option for 2026, so they have time to figure out what they want to do. But with fellow DT Jalen Carter eligible for an extension next offseason and defensive backs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean the offseason after that, it wouldn't surprise me to see the Eagles try to get ahead of things and get some cost certainty on Davis."

Getting a deal done for Davis makes sense for all the reasons Graziano laid out. The young defensive tackle has been a key contributor for the Eagles throughout his career. This season, Davis has 19 tackles, two for a loss, one sack, three batted balls, and the blocked field goal that he recovered for a touchdown. Philly needs to go ahead and secure him to a long-term deal.
