Manchester United have confirmed the death of a club icon.
Jimmy Nicholson won the Second Division with the Red Devils during the 1969-70 campaign - as part of his three year spell at Old Trafford, where he made 68 appearances.
In a statement on social media, United said: "Remembering our former player Jimmy Nicholson, who has died at the age of 82. We send our sincere condolences to his family and friends."
Nicholson, who is also a club legend at Huddersfield, has seen tributes pour in from across the footballing world. The Terriers said: "All at Huddersfield Town are profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of Jimmy Nicholson.
"Jimmy represented the Club between 1964-1973 after signing from Manchester United, and was part of our 1969/70 Second Division winning side.

"Our collective thoughts are with Jimmy’s family and loved ones at this time. Once a Terrier, always a Terrier."
On the international stage he would turn out for Northern Ireland, and a statement from the Irish FA read: "The Irish Football Association is saddened to hear of the passing of former international Jimmy Nicholson.
"The Association sends its sincere condolences to Jimmy’s family circle at this sad time."

Nicholson also turned out for Bury, Mossley and Stalybridge Celtic.
"RIP Jimmy. Never saw you at the top of your game, but did see you at Mossley and Stalybridge in my youth," one fan shared on social media.
"Thanks for your leadership in a great spell for the club Jimmy," a second said. As a third posted: "A true legend of the club. Rest in peace, Jimmy. Condolences to all his family and friends."
And another added: "Sad to hear about Jimmy Nicholson's passing. A true Manchester United legend. RIP."
