PITTSBURGH --Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey is taking the first steps needed to return from a hamstring strain suffered against the Minnesota Vikings.
Ramsey was seen stretching with the team for the second straight day, which is a precursor to full practice participation. He may not even be listed as a limited participant, but that is the next step for Ramsey, who is likely rehabbing off to the side.
It might not be enough to get Ramsey on the field against the Cleveland Browns, but it could be a positive first step to returning against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I think it’s like any time you lose a starter. You’re gonna have to work through those things,” defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said. “But, right now, it’s typical. It happens because you have to deal with it every year. Most of the time, it’s not the same starting unit out there all 17 games. So we’ll work our way through it if it shows up that way. We’ll figure it out.”
Ramsey, who has played outside cornerback, nickel cornerback, and safety, is a key piece for the team, so multiple people will have to replace what he does if he is going to miss any time.
Yet, the early signs seem to suggest that Ramsey will not be out too long as he works to rehab back from the hamstring strain.
