Jordan Pickford helped England to a 3-0 win against Wales at Wembley on Thursday night.
Heading into the game, many weren’t sure if Thomas Tuchel would start Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford given it was a friendly.
But clearly, with the World Cup just seven months away, Tuchel is keen to gain some continuity and get his first-teamers in a rhythm.
Pickford collected his 79th cap for the Three Lions and is now closing in on the top 10 most capped players, with Kyle Walker sitting in 10th on 96.
With all that said, here’s how the national media reacted to his performance against Wales.

The national media outlets have had their say on how Pickford performed at Wembley and it’s all positive.
Here’s what the Daily Express said.
7/10 – “Touched the ball more with his feet than his hands. Saved well from David Brooks with his legs early in the second half and then excellently denied Chris Mepham’s header. The Everton goalkeeper now has a new record with this his eighth consecutive clean sheet for his country.”
The Telegraph wrote.
7/10 – “England’s dominance meant he was not required for work first half everything was played in front of him. Saved superbly David Brooks and Chris Mepham after the interval.”

The Standard added.
7/10 – “Had very little to do, but made one good save and kept a clean-sheet to earn an eighth in a row — a new record for an England goalkeeper.”
Goal said.
6/10 – “A spectator for the most part such was England’s dominance, but did have to be sharp to keep out Williams shortly before the hour mark. Occasionally got involved in the build-up, though even this was rare given the hosts camped inside the Wales half for much of the evening.”
GiveMeSport gave their verdict.
7.5/10 – “Made a very good save in the second half, but outside of that, Pickford hardly had a thing to do all evening.”
When is Jordan Pickford back in action for England?
England’s next game will actually be a World Cup qualifier against Latvia, and that will take place on Tuesday, the 14th of October.
Pickford and his Three Lions teammates will fly to the capital of Latvia, Riga, and the qualifier will be held at the Daugava Stadium, which houses just over 10,000 supporters.
Tuchel’s side currently reside top of Group K, having won five out of five, so if they beat Latvia and Serbia fail to win against either Albania or Andorra, they will qualify for the World Cup in the US next summer.
Pickford will then return to Merseyside in preparation for Everton’s Premier League clash at Manchester City.
