As the January transfer window is slowly creeping up on us, Manchester United are once more assessing their ranks for potential loan spells, permanent offloads, and who they want to retain.
For those players in the final year of their contract, the winter transfer window has the potential to mark the end of their time at Old Trafford, as the players can enter a pre-contract agreement to line up a transfer as a free agent at the end of their contract.
As such, United will need to get contract extensions across the line before January for any stars they want to keep or else risk losing them.
When looking at their situation this year, The Red Devils have Tom Heaton, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia and Casemiro all into the final eight months of their contracts.
Whilst Tom Heaton has already begun looking at stepping into coaching when he retires at the end of the season, Maguire, Malacia and Casemiro are all keen to keep playing.
It’s understood that United have already begun talks to agree a new contract with Harry Maguire, who has been a key part of Ruben Amorim’s back three over the last year.
However no such conversations have begun for Casemiro or Tyrell Malacia as of yet.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that no such conversations will come for Malacia who is all set to leave next summer.
Taking to his YouTube channel, Romano commented: “Tyrell Malacia, despite returning in training with the first team of Manchester United after a crazy window where he had several opportunities, Tyrell Malacia is not going to sign any new contract at Manchester United and in any case will leave the club for sure 100% in 2026.”
This news doesn’t come as any great surprise given that Malacia was included in Ruben Amorim’s “bomb squad” as a priority sale before being demoted to the Under-21s training sessions.
Whilst Malacia is back with the senior squad, Amorim has shown no intention in using him more than just boosting numbers in training, so leaving the club next summer seems somewhat inevitable.
