The Sacramento Kings have cut their roster to 18 following the first preseason game.
26-year-old wing Dexter Dennis has been waived, the team announced on Thursday.
Dennis played a significant role in the Stockton Kings’ success last season, en route to their G League championship, as well as with their most recent Summer League squad, which lost in the finals.

The team is able to bring 15 players into training camp along with three two-way players, but is not required to meet that threshold.
Following the waiving of Dennis, that’s exactly where Sacramento’s roster lies. General manager Scott Perry and head coach Doug Christie have three more preseason battles, along with numerous additional practices, to determine who else will make their opening-day roster.

The Athletic‘s Sam Amick joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Thursday to share his thoughts on Christie’s thought process, contemplate if the preseason-opener is a sign of things to come or just a speed bump, and much more.
