That community, however, now has a huge reason to spread hate against the 31-year-old after he stayed in his seat during “God Bless America” at Tuesday night’s Yankees playoff game.
Not surprisingly, that moment has since turned viral online, with photos and videos spreading across social media. Many demanded the league cancel his halftime performance, with some even calling for a boycott.

The backlash hit hard like a truck. Critics accused him of “classless” behavior. No doubt, the negativity piled onto existing outrage over the NFL’s decision to book him for Super Bowl 60.
Fans didn’t hold back their frustration for long. One fan asked, “Can we deport him from everything?”
Another added, “Kick ICE. me coming to put him in jail.”
A third fan noted, “We need to start the marketing of ‘boycott the superbowl’ now so it has the lowest ratings in history!”
A fourth tagged the league and wrote, “@NFL pull him out.”
A fifth added, “C’mon @NFL get it together and cancel Bad Bunny halftime show.”
The sixth claimed, “But he accepts American money.”
The seventh user joked, “Maybe they should change the anthem to La Cucaracha. Then he would get up.”
The firestorm comes weeks after Trump administration officials threatened ICE enforcement at the Super Bowl. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called the NFL “weak” for booking Bad Bunny. House Speaker Mike Johnson labeled it “a terrible decision.”
Bad Bunny has responded to critics before. During his Saturday Night Live monologue, he spoke in Spanish and told viewers they have four months to learn the language. He’s expected to perform entirely in Spanish at the Super Bowl. His team views the performance as celebrating Latino culture and Puerto Rican identity.
The Grammy winner hasn’t directly addressed the Yankees incident. But the moment has intensified calls for the NFL to reconsider its booking.
