Manchester City’s Joško Gvardiol picked up an injury at the start of August.
The Croatia international was sidelined for over a month, forcing him to miss September’s international break.
Gvardiol made his first appearance of the season in Manchester City’s derby win over Manchester United on September 14th. Since then, he’s started every fixture in the Premier League and Champions League.
The defender returned to the national team for October’s fixtures. On Thursday, he played the full 90 minutes in Croatia’s draw against Czech Republic. After the match, the Manchester City player spoke to Nova TV and Slobodna Dalmacija have relayed his comments.
When asked whether he missed the national team, he provided a positive update on his fitness.
“I was out for a long time, struggling with a knee injury, but now everything is fine and under control,” he said.
Pep Guardiola’s side took part in the Club World Cup and played their last match in the US against Al-Hilal on July 1st. This saw the Citizens delay their start to last summer’s pre-season preparations.
The 23-year-old now admits he feels tired as he was forced to miss the pre-season due to an injury.
“I feel tired because I didn’t prepare properly and there are a lot of games, but I tried to bring as much as possible to the team,” Gvardiol explained.
