“Where he belongs” – Agent trying to get client to Liverpool or Manchester City

Malick Fofana’s agent Frederico Pena says the Lyon player deserves a move to a top club like Liverpool, Manchester City or Bayern Munich.

Pena, who is the general manager at Roc Nation Sports, has had a chat with De Morgen in Belgium.

Last summer, Fofana had opportunities to leave the Ligue 1 club but decided against a move.

The agent believes the 20-year-old belongs at top 10 clubs like Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern Munich. He believes the winger can complete a big move in 2026 if he impresses for Lyon this season and Belgium at the World Cup.

“This is the season in which Fofana wants to show himself to the world, especially at the World Cup,” he said.

“If he succeeds, he can move from Lyon to a top 10 club. At Roc Nation, we strongly believe in him. Liverpool, Bayern, Man City, those are the clubs where he belongs.”

Fofana scored 11 times and registered seven assists from 41 matches last season and has two goals and an assist from nine games this season.

According to De Morgen, the French club requested €45m, likely including bonuses, last summer. Lyon are of the belief the player’s price will only increase.

KAA Gent sold the Belgian to Lyon in January 2024 and have a 20% sell-on clause.

On September 6th, Fofana spoke about Liverpool and Chelsea interest, which wasn’t concrete enough. He was speaking to Het Belang van Limburg, who said the Premier League duo didn’t make advances because of Lyon’s €50m price tag.
