Journalist Confirms "There Is A Chance" That Liverpool Will Press Ahead With £87M Summer Transfer Plan

Liverpool are contemplating a move for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail reporter Lewis Steele.

Writing in a Q&A, Steele said that the 23-year-old is an option for the Reds as they look to strengthen their numbers out wide:

“Yes, there is a chance. He has gone from strength to strength since his move from Crystal Palace to the Bundesliga giants. The former Reading player was superb at Selhurst Park but lacked consistency, which he has now found in Germany.”

“The best wide forward at Bayern at the moment, while we are on the topic, is a certain Luis Diaz. How Liverpool have missed him in the last week! Olise could definitely be an option in the summer, though. Watch this space.”

Several Premier League clubs want Olise

It has been reported in the German media over the past week or so that Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea are all prepared to pay as much as €100m (£87m) for the France international if he becomes available next summer.

Bayern are determined to tie down Olise to a fresh contract, and if the forward does put pen to paper on a new deal, the chances of a move to Anfield will greatly diminish.

Liverpool are looking to replace Salah

There has been a lot of criticism of Mo Salah’s form at the start of this campaign, and while it would be foolish to write off the Egyptian international, sporting director Richard Hughes will still be looking at potential replacements.

Salah will have just a year left on his contract next summer, so a succession plan will need to be put in place. In addition to Olise, the Reds have been linked with a move for Antoine Semenyo. Hughes is thought to be a keen admirer of the Bournemouth forward who could cost £75m.
