Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles has expressed his unwavering support for quarterback Baker Mayfield, stating he wouldn't trade him for any other signal-caller in the NFL.

Bowles' endorsement of Mayfield is not surprising, as it's common for NFL coaches to back their own players, but Mayfield's performance this season has been nothing short of spectacular.

In Sunday's nail-biting 38-35 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, Mayfield showcased his skills by throwing for 379 yards and two touchdowns, completing an impressive 29 out of 33 pass attempts. It comes as Erin Andrews issued an apology to Mayfield after a FOX interview.

When asked if there was another quarterback he'd prefer over Mayfield, Bowles responded: "For me, no. The other 31 coaches are probably going to stand up here and say the same thing about their quarterback.

"I love what he's doing right now. I love the way he's playing. I love the space he's in, mentally and physically getting it done. The mastery of the offense in his second year has really done a lot."

Currently, Mayfield ranks fourth among quarterbacks in passing yards (1,283), tied-for-third in passing touchdowns (10) and fourth in combined passing and rushing yards (1,427).

The former Heisman Trophy winner has been the driving force behind all of the Buccaneers' victories this season, leading four game-winning drives. Currently, there's no quarterback more clutch than Mayfield when it comes to crunch time.

The Buccaneers' only defeat in 2025 came at the hands of the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, in Week 4.

The successful partnership between Bowles and Mayfield was unexpected by NFL fans and analysts alike.

Mayfield, the former No. 1 overall pick, inked a one-year, $4 million contract with Tampa Bay in 2023, following Tom Brady's retirement.

He was expected to vie for the starting quarterback position, but there were no guarantees given his past few seasons as a journeyman with the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Los Angeles Rams. He was largely seen as a backup option.

However, Mayfield secured the starting job during training camp and immediately made an impact, winning his first two starts as the Bucs' QB. Two full seasons later and off to a hot start in the 2025 campaign, his head coach couldn't be more pleased with his quarterback's performance.

Now, Mayfield and his team face a tough challenge in Week 6 against the 4-1 San Francisco 49ers, a team Baker has never beaten in four career attempts, including twice with the Bucs.
