Chelsea will consider reigniting their interest in Barcelona attacking midfielder Fermin Lopez in the future, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that the Blues are still big fans of the Spanish international and they will continue to monitor his progress:
“The player Chelsea like at Barcelona remains Fermin Lopez. He’s a player they love at Chelsea because they see potential in Fermin Lopez to cover several positions.”
“Chelsea believe that the player can develop into something even more special in the future. And so if Chelsea sent a bid in the final days of the transfer window in the summer for Fermin Lopez, it’s because they wanted to show ambition. They wanted to try.”
“Fermin Lopez remains and will remain on Chelsea’s list for the next years, but at the moment he wants to stay at Barcelona and there are no active discussions or negotiations.”

Chelsea failed with summer approach
Roman was the one who reported that Enzo Maresca’s side had tabled a €40m (£35m) bid for Lopez at the end of August.
Nothing came of the offer for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the proposal was well below Barca’s valuation, and secondly, the player had no interest in moving to Stamford Bridge.
Lopez has made his feelings clear
The 22-year-old confirmed last month that there was interest from other teams. While he did not reveal which clubs were involved, he did emphasise that he never had any intention of leaving Barcelona:
“There were offers from other clubs, but I never had any intention of leaving, and I don’t think the club wanted to sell me. I’ve been a Barca fan my whole life. Since I was little. It all came from my mother’s uncle, who has always been a Barca fan.”
With that being case, you would think that Chelsea would get the message and move on to other targets, but it seems they will play the waiting game and see if Lopez changes his mind in the future.
