England continue their qualifying campaign for next year’s World Cup in the United States when they face Latvia on Tuesday night.
The Three Lions – who defeated Wales 3-0 in a friendly on Thursday – currently sit top of qualifying Group K and look set to reach the finals of the tournament next summer.
After a sluggish start to his tenure, manager Thomas Tuchel has overseen convincing wins against both Serbia and Wales in his last two matches, and England still boast a 100% winning record in the qualifying campaign so far.
Several players will be vying for a place in Tuchel’s final squad for the showpiece next year, but in the meantime it has emerged that one Premier League star could depart his current club in January in order to maximise his chance of going to the World Cup.
As per Football Insider, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could leave Manchester United in January in search of more regular playing time.

The young midfielder is a product of United’s youth academy and enjoyed a fine breakthrough season in 2023/24, before being included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.
He has since fallen somewhat out of favour at Old Trafford, though, and is some way down the pecking order of central midfielders in Ruben Amorim’s squad.
The report claims that the 20-year-old is extremely unhappy at his current situation, having pushed for a loan move away from United over the summer.
While United refused to allow him to leave, the Englishman hasn’t started a single Premier League game so far this term and the report claims that he will likely push once again for a loan move away from the club when the transfer window reopens in January.
Mainoo – who has played more than 75 times for United – is contracted the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.
