Will Chiefs’ Xavier Worthy play vs. Lions on Sunday night? Here’s a Friday update

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was back on the field Friday for the team’s final practice of the week ahead of a “Sunday Night Football” game against the Detroit Lions at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

“(He) moved around good,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “We’ll see how he did after (practice). He did everything (Friday), so we’ll just see where he is at.”

Reid added he expects Worthy to be available on Sunday.

Last week, on the Sunday before Kansas City’s “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team downgraded Worthy to “questionable,” citing ankle and shoulder injuries. He ultimately played, recording seven touches for 51 yards.

All appeared well on Wednesday, when Kansas City listed the receiver as a full participant, but then he was held out of Thursday’s practice session.

Worthy initially suffered a shoulder injury in the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil, leading him to miss the following two games, against the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.

The Chiefs’ offense looked noticeably sharper in Worthy’s Week 4 return against the Baltimore Ravens — a 37-20 victory in which the Worthy led the team with 83 receiving yards.

Kansas City’s final injury report of the week, which will include Worthy’s official designation, will be posted sometime Friday afternoon.
