Benjamin Sesko features for Slovenia in 0-0 draw against Kosovo

Benjamin Sesko started for Slovenia in a 0-0 draw against Kosovo.

Slovenia’s attempts to qualify for the 2026 World Cup took another blow on Friday night.

Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko led the line for Matjaž Kek’s side and came close to opening before half-time after controlling the ball with his chest and getting his shot on target.

Slovenia were unable to get the 22-year-old striker in behind Kosovo’s defence, which made it a long night chasing shadows for the United man.

Sesko had another chance to score in the 79th minute when his shot was blocked by a brilliant last-ditch tackle inside the box, and he almost found the net seconds later with a volley following a corner kick.

The 6ft 5in striker missed a header in the 83rd minute by sending his effort past the post.

It was an even affair as the two nations cancelled themselves out to share the points.
