Reid: Worthy expected to play against Lions despite injuries

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Chiefs Kingdom’s scare of seeing wide receiver Xavier Worthy listed as a non-participant in Thursday’s practice appears to be just that.

On Friday, head coach Andy Reid said Worthy did everything at practice and “moved around good.”

Worthy was listed on the injury report with shoulder and ankle designations that held him out of Thursday’s practice. The former first-round pick injured his shoulder on the third play of the season and added an ankle injury last week. During the Week 5 loss to the Jaguars, Worthy hobbled off the field at one point following a catch.

In two games of full participation this season, Worthy has 11 receptions for 125 yards. With him in the lineup, Kansas City is averaging 33.5 points per game.

The Chiefs will need him Sunday night in what figures to be a high-scoring battle against the Detroit Lions, who have the league’s No. 1 scoring offense.

Kickoff of Chiefs-Lions is at 7:20 p.m. CT at Kansas City attempts to improve its 2-3 record.
