The San Antonio Spurs will attempt to stay undefeated in preseason action tonight when they host the Utah Jazz at the Frost Bank Center. San Antonio has started preseason with two wins. Their latest victory came against the Miami Heat, with Keldon Johnson leading the way with 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field (see the Grades).

Tonight’s affair will be the third of five preseason games for the Spurs. San Antonio’s final two contests in exhibition play will come against the Indiana Pacers. First, the Spurs play the Pacers in Indiana on Monday. After that, San Antonio will host the Pacers in South Texas next Friday.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

The big news tonight for the Silver and Black is regarding Dylan Harper. The second overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft will make his preseason debut tonight for the Spurs. Harper had been sidelined after undergoing thumb surgery.

Devin Vassell, who missed San Antonio’s first preseason game, is expected to play once again tonight versus the Jazz.

Unfortunately, a number of players remain sidelined for the Spurs. De’Aaron Fox has a hamstring injury that will keep him out into the regular season. Stephon Castle is out with a bruised knee. Jeremy Sochan is out with a calf injury. Kelly Olynyk (heel) and Jordan McLaughlin (hamstring) will also miss tonight’s contest.

San Antonio Spurs Starting Lineup

Even though Harper will play, head coach Mitch Johnson will likely opt to bring him off the bench. That means the starting five will probably be Victor Wembanyama at center, Harrison Barnes at power forward, Keldon Johnson at small forward, and Devin Vassell and Julian Champagnie at the guard positions.

Could Harper start for the Spurs? It’s possible — but the rookie will likely be on a minutes restriction and the coaching staff will likely ease him into the rotation slowly.

Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Jazz

The Spurs are favored by 6.5 points and the over/under is 232 points. With the home fans excited to see Harper play, expect the Spurs to win by seven or more points. Victor Wembanyama should also play a decent amount tonight, which will help San Antonio’s chances of pulling away with an easy win and remaining undefeated in the exhibition season.
