ATLANTA, GA – The Georgia State volleyball team (10-7, SBC 1-5) fell in straight sets to Coastal Carolina (13-4, SBC 6-0) on Friday night at the GSU Sports Arena.

Alessia Cappai paced the Panthers' offense with nine kills and a .316 hitting percentage, while Marta Lazzarin anchored the defense with a team-high 17 digs.

How It Happened

Set 1 | The opening frame was a battle from start to finish, featuring seven lead changes and 14 ties. Neither team led by more than three points, but Coastal Carolina edged out the Panthers, 25–23.

Set 2 | Georgia State dropped the second set, 25–17, as Coastal Carolina built an early lead and maintained control throughout. Despite several rally attempts, the Panthers couldn't regain momentum and fell behind 2–0 in the match.

Set 3 | The Panthers fought to extend the match but ultimately fell, 25–20, in the third set. After dropping the first point, Georgia State played from behind for much of the frame before the Chanticleers closed out the sweep.

The Panthers hit the road to Norfolk, Va. where they will meet Old Dominion on the court for another two set series. The first match will be on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. ET, followed by a second match on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. ET.
