“Parties are working on it” – Manchester United exit in January already in works

Napoli have a “strong temptation” to try and [sign Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United](https://sportwitness.co.uk/kobbie-mainoo-napoli-manchester-united-loan/) in January, but need help to get a deal done.

That’s according to journalist Emanuel Cammaroto, [via Area Napoli](https://www.areanapoli.it/calciomercato/tentazione-mainoo-a-gennaio-a-giugno-altro-super-colpo-a-costo-zero-il-retroscena_609079.html), who reports that “the parties are working on it.”

Mainoo finds himself out of the picture at Manchester United at this moment in time. He’s only played a substitute role under Ruben Amorim. That comes after being linked with a move away throughout the summer transfer window.

That situation could change in the coming months but, if not, an exit from Manchester United is likely to be seen as a solution come January. A report in Italy today stated that the midfielder was already looking to leave in the winter window.

That added Napoli remain keen after trying to sign him in the summer. They’re after a new midfielder, but would need Manchester United’s help to get a deal done. The belief is that they’ll only chase a loan deal without a purchase obligation. Whether Manchester United would accept that, is up for debate.

But Cammaroto insists that they are working on it behind the scenes and sorely tempted to make it happen.

_“The Africa Cup of Nations ends on January 18th. The transfer window opens on January 1st. It’s not easy to secure a signing in that area of the pitch right away,”_ he said.

_“Right now, the spotlight is on Di Lorenzo’s replacement, whom Napoli wants to sign to strengthen the right flank for the present and future._

_“The strong temptation is to sign Mainoo, but we need to see if United are open to a loan with an option to buy. The parties are working on it.”_
