Brian Burns reveals what made Giants' upset win vs. Eagles so ‘special'

There was a palpably different energy at MetLife Stadium in the New York Giants' shocking Week 6 upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Those watching at home were able to sense the vibe shift, so you can only imagine what it felt like on the field.

Fortunately, we have Giants star outside linebacker Brian Burns to put the atmosphere in East Rutherford as the team defeated the Eagles handily into perspective. Like every member of Big Blue Nation, he couldn’t contain his “high emotions” following New York’s impressive 34-17 win against the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Burns was quick to tell Amazon Prime Video's Kaylee Hartung that he hadn't experienced an aura of such excitement since joining the Giants last offseason.

Brian Burns delivers message Giants fans will love after Giants’ ‘special’ win vs. Eagles

"No, not like tonight," Burns said regarding the lively ambiance permeating the air after he and the G-Men beat the Eagles during his postgame interview. "It was special, I ain't gonna lie."

New York’s defense certainly stepped up against a flawed but talented Eagles scoring unit, and Burns’ fingerprints were all over this game. However, he gave the Giants' budding rookie backfield duo of Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo well-deserved flowers. The two-time Pro Bowler credited his newcomer teammates’ infectious energy for the demonstrably dramatic positive mood change surrounding the club.

"[Dart and Skattebo] bring a ton of juice," Burns said during his postgame interview. "Every time Skatt or Dart make a play ... they bring a lot of energy."

It's hard to disagree with Burns; fans have succumbed to the Giants' shortcomings over the past near-decade. The doom and gloom of the franchise's failures have seeped into supporters. Nevertheless, as Burns acknowledged, Dart and Skattebo are giving New York something it hasn't had in a long time: hope.

The Giants shone under the bright lights ofThursday Night Football. It a contest that few, if any, people expected them to be competitive in, let alone win outright. Dart and Skattebo will rightfully garner headlines, but Burns is elated about the collective effort New York displayed.

" ... it was the first time that we played great on all three phases, and you know, I'm proud of my guys," Burns told Hartung.
