Ismaila Sarr is enjoying himself on international duty away from Crystal Palace.
The man born in Saint Louis scored twice to fire his country to a 5-0 win over South Sudan on Friday in a FIFA World Cup qualifier, alongside other Premier League stars such as Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye.
Seneweb have now shared their verdict on Ismaila Sarr after an excellent performance from the Crystal Palace star.
Seneweb name Ismaila Sarr Man of the Match after downing South Sudan
Senegal can boast an immense side at the moment, consisting of stars like Sadio Mane, Nicolas Jackson and the aforementioned Ndiaye – who Freedman tried to sign.
Therefore, it speaks volumes that Sarr outdid all of his talented teammates.
Seneweb hand the Crystal Palace No.7 a match rating of eight out of ten after he scored twice, writing: “After a hesitant start to the match, Sarr kicked off the Lions’ offensive festivities by opening the scoring in the 26th minute. He then scored a second goal in the second half with a well-constructed move. Like Mane, he was rested after the hour mark.”
The Senegalese news outlet also called the 27-year-old “brilliant” in their headline, adding that he “shone brightly” against South Sudan.
As Seneweb mention, Sarr also got a rest after 60 minutes had passed – which will please Oliver Glasner – so it was a fantastic start to international duty for the Crystal Palace fan favourite.
Crystal Palace struck gold with Ismaila Sarr
It is almost hard to believe that Dougie Freedman managed to sign Sarr – who Cheikhou Kouyate knows well – from Marseille for just £12.7m back in August 2024.
The rapid forward has since scored 16 goals and assisted another ten in 56 appearances for the Eagles, notably bagging two against Brighton at the Amex Stadium and another brace to down Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final.
Sarr is now arguably the talisman of Senegal, ahead of Jackson – who Bayern Munich currently have on loan from Chelsea and agreed to a £70m option to buy.
Therefore, if any offers were to arrive for Sarr, Steve Parish can quite justly point to a similar figure as his asking price.
